Our College recently signed a site license for Mentimeter, as part of a strategy to encourage engagement and to consolidate the activities in numerous other platforms into one.
One of the concerns brought forward from our faculty was the inability for the platform to auto-generate user names (nicknames) in Quiz Competitions and have the presentation use only those names. The faculty is/was a Kahoot! user, and he contrasts this with the behaviour in Kahoot!, where he could have the system generate the nicknames and that they be locked.
It appears that a Menti user always has the option to enter a custom name.
This can be a problem when the user types in an "inappropriate" name. The profanity filter does not stop the use of that name.
My question- is there a way to disable the audience from using a custom (typed-in) name in a Quiz?
I mention Kahoot! only because this issue may be seen as a weakness in Mentimeter.
